Intel gets a strategy reboot

Intel has separated its core internal functions to refine and better organize its product and manufacturing businesses. The chipmaker has renewed its “North Star” to drive leadership, financial discipline and product innovation in line with the IDM 2.0 strategy announced in 2021, Saf Yeboah-Amankwah, Intel’s Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, told Mizuho Americas Senior Analyst Vijay Rakesh during the breakfast keynote at the Mizuho Technology Conference. Saf acknowledges challenges the company is facing to execute the significant transformation, but reiterates the “magic of when you have co-optimization of our semiconductors with our manufacturing creating 1+1= 3 remains the core of the strategy.”

Intel sets course on foundry role

Intel is quickly pivoting in order to stay competitive as a product company and is playing an “offense” role in the foundry business. The company is expanding its foundry services to support AI applications, Saf Yeboah-Amankwah, Intel’s Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, told Mizuho Americas Senior Analyst Vijay Rakesh during the breakfast keynote at the Mizuho Technology Conference. The semiconductor manufacturer is leveraging its technological capabilities and has embedded “backside power delivery” into its chips which essentially speeds up the connection and leaves more room for data transfer.
