Mizuho Americas Inaugural Finance Leaders Forum drew CFOs, finance and treasury executives from across sectors on September 14, 2023 in New York for timely panel discussions and Q&A’s from thought leaders in finance, industry and geopolitics. We heard inside details on how the Fed sets interest rate policy from the former Boston Fed President, Eric Rosengren. Mizuho Americas Head of Investment & Corporate Banking, Michal Katz, then interviewed Brookfield Corporation’s CFO & President Nick Goodman on the Evolving Role of the CFO. During the CIO’s Perspective discussion, Mizuho Americas Head of Strategy Paul Hughes spoke with Joe Dowling, Global Head of BAAM and Steven Meier, CIO of the New York City Retirement System who offered their insights into the current investing environment. The cohort also heard from cybersecurity expert Udi Mokadi of CyberArk followed by a renowned lunchtime speaker, Professor Stephen Kotkin, Kleinheinz Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, on Russia – Ukraine and China relations.
Lunch was followed by illuminating discussions from Mizuho bankers and external panelists on capital raising and M&A trends in public and private markets. Gregg Lemos-Stein, Chief Analytical Officer, Corporate Ratings at S&P Global Ratings shared his view on corporate credit outlook in an increasing interest rate environment. And, we had a focused private company track with insights from leading legal, investor relations, exchange and market experts on IPO Readiness and Life After Listing.
