Mizuho Bank announces a senior addition to APAC banking team

Mizuho Bank, Ltd., APAC announces the appointment of Joris Dierckx as Co-Head of Banking, APAC. In his new role, Joris will cover the APAC banking business for non-Japanese clients excluding China, jointly with Yasuhiro Kubota, Head of Banking, APAC. 

Joris will leverage his extensive banking experience in APAC countries and deep understanding of sectors, customers and products to strengthen Mizuho’s banking business. His appointment supports Mizuho’s strategy to further grow the APAC banking business through strong promotion of the corporate and investment banking (CIB) model along with transaction banking, which will elevate and strengthen our presence and brand in the region.

Joris is an esteemed business leader with over 25 years of global experience, centered on the APAC and EU regions. His most recent role was as the Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking for Southeast Asia and CEO of the Singapore branch of BNP Paribas. He started his career at Generale Bank in Belgium and then experienced a variety of export and project finance positions in Brussels, Dublin, Mumbai, and Singapore while at Fortis. During the integration with BNP Paribas, he served as Head of Merchant Banking Asia at Fortis while also serving as country head for Japan. He joined BNP Paribas in 2010 and has been country head of Greece, South Korea and India in succession. 

Joris holds a post graduate diploma in sustainable development from the University of London, a post graduate degree in finance from the University of Leuven, a Masters of Law degree from the University of London and a Master's degree from the University of Antwerp.
