Mizuho Bank, Ltd. (President & CEO: Koji Fujiwara) today signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Third Wednesday Club (San San Fe; Chairman: Shenghsiung Hsu) concerning collaboration between Japanese and Taiwanese companies.
San San Fe was established in 1999 for the purpose of transforming the Taiwanese economy through public–private cooperation and is the largest economic organization in Taiwan. It currently has 67 company groups as regular members and 38 companies as sponsor members, which have a combined total annual revenue of approximately USD 580 billion. It supports member companies expand their businesses and enter foreign markets by facilitating international business exchanges. We participate in the organization's activities as a sponsor member.
We were the first foreign bank to open a branch in Taiwan in 1959. Since then, we have contributed to the prosperity of the Taiwanese economy for more than half a century. We are the only Japanese bank to have three branches in Taiwan (Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung), which provide a variety of services, such as advisory services, in addition to traditional banking services.
Recently, an increasing number of Japanese companies are entering Taiwan, while Taiwanese companies are expanding globally at an accelerated pace. Through this MOA, we will serve as a bridge to facilitate collaboration between Japanese and Taiwanese companies. We will be organizing various events and meetings, and provide advisory and other services in order to identify and realize new collaborative opportunities.
By enhancing our support to Japanese companies investing or expanding business in Taiwan, as well as Taiwanese companies investing or expanding business in Japan, we will contribute to the further prosperity and business growth of the two economies.
