Mizuho signs MOUs for business cooperation with African organizations attending TICAD7

Mizuho Bank, Ltd. (President & CEO: Koji Fujiwara) attended the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7)* and signed memorandums of understanding (MOU) for business cooperation with the following organizations on August 27 and 28.

  • *The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) is an international conference aimed at African development. The conference has been held periodically since 1993 under the leadership of the Japanese government and co–organized with the United Nations and other multilateral organizations. TICAD7 will be held from August 28 through 30, 2019 in Yokohama City.
Organizations Countries/Regions Agreement
1. African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) 14 countries Collaboration in the areas of credit insurance, information exchange, etc.
2. African Export–Import Bank (Afreximbank) 51 countries Collaboration in trade finance, etc.
3. Attijariwafa Bank (AWB) Morocco Collaboration in a broad range of banking and related services
4. The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited South Africa Establishment of a Japan Desk

Mizuho Bank has a representative office in Johannesburg, South Africa, which works with the coverage and products team in London and the corporate banking team in Dubai to support companies entering African markets and completing financial transactions in the region.

The latest MOUs will enable us to provide enhanced services to our clients and expand our network in Africa. We will continue to fully employ our integrated strengths to closely support companies entering and expanding business in Africa, and thereby contribute to the development of various African economies.
