What do you do at Mizuho?
I trade interest rate derivatives, such as options and cross-currency swaps. That means I work to provide the most competitive markets for clients in interest rate derivatives, while simultaneously managing market risks to help maximize the firm’s top line.
How is Mizuho different from other places where you've worked?
Mizuho Americas is entrepreneurial, and runs on innovative, motivated, and powerful people. We believe that, in the near future, we can be the number one financial institution in businesses such as Sales & Trading. We are a challenger with tenacity in the industry.
What’s a particularly proud moment you’ve had here?
With many professionals across many departments, we launched market-making desks in a number of products, such as options and cross-currency swaps. It was a massive undertaking and I’m proud of the success we have achieved in such little time.
What do you do for fun?
I play the drums for a rock band that consists entirely of Mizuho Americas colleagues. Altogether we have vocal, bass guitar, guitar, keyboard and drums.
What is a topic or issue outside of financial services that interests you?
Technological singularity.
What skill or competency do you feel you've enhanced while at Mizuho?
Communication. We are growing as a firm, and every day comes with new business and new challenges. Communicating clearly and constantly with teammates and market participants is indispensable in order to serve clients better.
