Interview tips from 2022 intern, Max Fewster
Interviews can be daunting, but there are some things you can do to make the process as smooth as possible.
Here are my top tips when preparing for your interview.
Do your research
You should know about Mizuho, especially our values which are at the forefront of all our business decisions. It is important to try and understand your potential role as much as possible, identify the key skills needed and be prepared to discuss how your experience aligns with them. Also, have an understanding of current affairs and how they might affect the potential role.
Practice
Get a friend, parent or mentor and practice with a mock interview. Practice common interview questions to get in the habit of an interview environment. Get feedback and build your confidence.
Ask Questions
As much as your interviewer is trying to gauge how good a fit you are, it is important you try and understand how good a fit Mizuho is for you. Feel free to ask questions that you might have about the role, the team and Mizuho more generally.
Stay Relaxed
Your interviewer won’t be trying to trip you up, instead they want to see you at your best. Listen carefully to each question and ensure you fully understand, it is fine to take a moment to think how to best respond. It is an opportunity for you to talk about your achievements and why you are interested in joining. Be honest, authentic and stay relaxed!
