London, 1 April 2019: Mizuho Securities Europe GmbH (Mizuho Securities Europe), the wholly owned European subsidiary of Mizuho International plc (a UK subsidiary of Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd.) is pleased to announce it has commenced its EU operations in March 2019.
The commencement of business activity entails the provision of origination and trading services to Mizuho’s EU client base from its newly established securities subsidiary based in Frankfurt, Germany.
Newly appointed CEO of Mizuho Securities Europe, Christoph Seibel said: “We have ensured a smooth and uninterrupted continuation of services to our clients through this transition period. We are excited to continue building out our securities business, and together with my executive management team, we look forward to partnering with all our Mizuho colleagues in providing our clients with the best possible global services and product solutions.”
Mizuho Securities Europe was granted a MiFID investment services license in December 2018 by BaFin, Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. Following this, Christoph Seibel was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mizuho Securities Europe and assumed his post on 28 March 2019.
Mizuho Securities Europe continues to carry out preparations to commence business operations in March 2019, which in the event of a hard Brexit scenario will allow for a smooth and uninterrupted continuation of origination and trading activities with clients.
