We are proud to be named winner of Financial Advisor of the Year category by the 2021 Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Middle East Awards.
We were honoured to be awarded this accolade for our partnership with ADNOC, as joint financial advisor in their US$20.7 billion energy infrastructure deal that completed in June 2020. Undertaking various lead roles in a historic achievement, the success of this transaction, and the subsequent award, is a testament to a global team collaboration and delivery across the Mizuho group.
In one of the largest global energy infrastructure transactions, a consortium of global equity investors acquired a 49% stake in ADNOC Gas Pipeline Assets LLC, a newly formed subsidiary of ADNOC with lease rights to 38 pipelines covering a total of 982.3 kilometres, with ADNOC holding a 51% majority stake. Mizuho also acted as the Joint Financial Advisor to ADNOC in the follow-on sale of a 20% stake in ADNOC Gas Pipelines HoldCo LLC, valued at US$2.1billion to a local consortium of Abu Dhabi Pension Fund and ADQ. The transactions allowed ADNOC to tap into new pools of global and local institutional capital while retaining ownership and full operating control of the assets.
Since 2015, the Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Middle East Awards has recognised the most innovative and ground-breaking deals from Sovereign, Corporate and Financial Institution issuers and borrowers in the Middle East. The exhaustive selection process involves close examination of deal size, tenor, structure, and distribution; analysis and background of the borrower and their accessibility to financing; with extra credit for those deals demonstrating high quality execution, accessing new pools of liquidity, innovative structuring, and opening-up new markets.
