Mr. Wakabayashi was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors, Mizuho International plc, in April 2021

He has over 26 years’ extensive experience within the Group, with a focus on global strategy and business planning. Prior to his current position Mr. Wakabayashi held senior positions including Head of Global Strategy Department, Joint-General Manager, Global Strategy Department, Mizuho Securities Co. Ltd., Head of Board Chair's office, and Managing Director, Strategic Decision Support at Mizuho International plc.

While undertaking a wide range of assignments since joining the organisation in 1992, he held a variety of senior management roles at Mizuho Financial Group, Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd and Mizuho International plc.

Mr. Wakabayashi holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University and is a Law graduate from the University of Tokyo.
