What do you do at Mizuho?
My main role is as a Loan Trader for Mizuho. This means for any syndicated loan that Mizuho or a client/investor of Mizuho wants to buy or sell in the secondary market, my job is to execute at the best price in the over the counter market.
What surprised you about Mizuho?
How US centric the firm has become and how prominent the US’ role is within the global Bank.
What’s the first thing you read every day?
I log on to Bloomberg and check the equity futures market and then read the Wall Street Journal.
How have you grown since joining Mizuho?
I have developed a better understanding of debt capital markets. Origination is the driver for secondary trading, particularly in the loan market where there is a big focus on the new issue calendar as the governor of the supply vs. demand equation.
What’s a particularly proud moment you’ve had here?
Winning the league championship with the Mizuho basketball team.
What’s one thing you've learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?
Your personal reputation is everything.
What do you do for fun?
I coach baseball and flag football for my 12-year son. And I try to attend as many of my daughter’s high school soccer and softball games that I can. Also, I watch the all the Baltimore Ravens games.
