What do you do at Mizuho?

I manage the equity middle office team, supporting the full equity trading desk across all product classes.

How is Mizuho different from other places where you've worked?

Mizuho has great team culture across the bank, not only in operations. There’s a strong sense of partnership and collaboration, and everyone I come across is always willing to help. One difference I like the most is everyone is always smiling, always a hi and hello, always a personal touch with all communications. You are not only co-workers – you have a personal connection with everyone you work with. 

What's a particularly proud moment you've had here? 

The successful build of our US OTC Equity Derivatives business. It required lockstep coordination across several departments such as Risk, Finance, Compliance, Legal, IT, and Internal Audit, as well as efforts spanning new workflows, an IT Infrastructure build, and new hires. It really expands our Americas equities footprint.

What's one thing you've learned while at Mizuho or in the industry?

It is not always about having knowledge of the product you support, but understanding the business front to back and the impact your role can play. 

What do you do for fun?

I love to cook, drink wine, and cheer on my favorite sports teams – the Yankees and NY Giants!

What surprised you about Mizuho?

Coming to a bigger bank, I wasn’t sure how the partnership and size of the organization would affect my career path, but it has been so encouraging to see people growing professionally, being promoted and recognized based off of their achievements.
