Asia Transition Finance Study Group publishes Asia Transition Finance Study Group Annual Report 2023
The Asia Transition Finance Study Group (ATF SG), in which Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (President & CEO: Masahiro Kihara) has been a core member since 2021, has announced publication of the Asia Transition Finance Study group Annual Report 2023.
ATF SG was established in 2021 based on the recognition that transition finance will play an important role in Asian economies being able to achieve carbon neutrality. Its goal is to create practical recommendations to supplement existing frameworks, including global standards and taxonomies, when financial institutions consider and assess transition finance cases, as well as to understand related challenges and explore potential enablers to transition finance.
The Asia Transition Finance Study Group Annual Report 2023 was created after several months of discussion among the core members, mainly commercial banks, development banks, export credit agencies, public agencies, and other financial industry related institutions. In order to accelerate transition finance in Asia, the report shows that going forward ATF SG will focus on key areas together with all stakeholders, especially public institutions, transition finance receivers, and financial institutions.
Ever since Mizuho provided the first transition finance in Japan, we have been leading the transition finance market in Japan with numerous other deals and have subsequently established an overwhelming position. Furthermore, we have set up an equity investment facility specifically to provide risk capital for new technologies.
As a leader in transition finance, Mizuho will continue to leverage the capabilities and knowledge of our group companies to provide financing and solutions to transition areas, in collaboration with all stakeholders, including those in the public and private sectors.
