Mizuho receives Semi-Grand Prize at the D&I Awards 2023
Mizuho also awarded Best Workplace, the highest recognition, for the third year in a row
We are delighted to announce that Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (President & Group CEO: Masahiro Kihara) and four other Mizuho group companies* have received a Semi-Grand Prize in today's D&I Awards 2023, a recognition and award program presented by JobRainbow. We have received this prize in the division for companies with 3,001 or more employees. Alongside it, we have also been awarded Best Workplace, the highest recognition, for the third year in a row.
The D&I Awards are Japan's biggest awards recognizing and honoring companies undertaking diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives. Companies are evaluated and recognized on their overall diversity score, calculated from their performance across five areas: gender equality, LGBT+ inclusion, disability inclusion, intercultural cohesion, and support for nursing care and childcare. Companies receiving the Semi-Grand Prize have diversity scores of at least 61 and are engaged in notable initiatives that can serve as models for other companies. The Semi-Grand Prize is given to two companies in each division and the Grand Prize to one company in each division, for a maximum of 15 companies overall.

Mizuho has been quick to respond to the changing times. It has in place systems open to a diverse workforce, training tailored to different career stages, and policies that enable employees to ensure inclusion in their own departments and offices. These practices, among others, demonstrate Mizuho's insight and experience in D&I. In particular, in regard to initiatives and policies for LGBTQ+ inclusion, Mizuho has not only been focusing on its own workplace but also connecting and collaborating with Japan's other megabanks. Given Mizuho's scale as a financial group employing tens of thousands of people, we hope to see even further expansion in Mizuho's employee-led communities going forward.
