Mizuho Financial Group Recognized in the 2017 Bloomberg Financial Services Gender–Equality Index

January 30, 2017

We are delighted to announce that on January 23, 2017, Mizuho Financial Group, Inc, (President & Group CEO: Yasuhiro Sato) was chosen to be included as a member in the 2017 Bloomberg Financial Services Gender–Equality Index (GEI).

The Bloomberg GEI is a reference index created in 2016 by Bloomberg to meet a growing need among investors worldwide for greater access to information that would allow them to evaluate companies' reputations, values and business results. The index assesses companies in the financial services industry, taking into consideration their engagement with social issues, governance, and the transparency of their policies, all from the point of view of gender equality. In 2017, the scope of the index was expanded to cover 17 countries including Japan, and now includes 52 companies which have gained excellent scores based on their efforts to build environments of gender–equality for their employees, encompassing areas such as information disclosure, policies and achievements so far.

Having been selected as an annual member of the index, Mizuho will continue our work to pursue greater diversity and inclusion, including enhancing the participation of our female workforce, on a global basis throughout the corporate group. Mizuho works hard to make sure every employee feels welcome, motivated, and productive and to further improve our corporate environment so that employees can fully utilize their capabilities.
