Mizuho Financial Group Recognized in the 2018 Bloomberg Gender–Equality Index

January 24, 2018

We are delighted to announce that on January 22, 2018, Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. (President & Group CEO: Yasuhiro Sato) was chosen to be included in the 2018 Bloomberg Gender–Equality Index, receiving this honor for the second year in a row.

As global investors seek to analyze a wider range of information when assessing a firm's reputation, value, and performance, the Bloomberg Gender–Equality Index brings a new level of clarity and awareness to community engagement and corporate governance information in terms of gender equality.

Prior to this year, this Index included only financial services firms, but for 2018 it has been expanded to cover ten different industry sectors and 24 countries. This year, 104 companies were selected based on their efforts to promote gender equality within the workplace and the ways in which their disclosure policies, progress towards equality–related goals, and internal policies reflect these efforts.

We will continue our efforts to achieve greater diversity and inclusion on a global and group–wide basis, including promoting the participation and advancement of our female workforce. Mizuho is committed to making sure every employee feels valued and motivated. We are working to transform outdated mindsets and are continually striving to improve the work environment to ensure that each individual can fully utilize their capabilities.
